The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Detachment is at 1010 Second Street northeast of Rotary Lakeside Park. One must go through the east parking lot and under the bridge and continue straight ahead.

Completed in 1989, this RCMP detachment houses one half of the constabulary of the city of Nelson, as the city also has a city police force, encamped in their own building downtown. This is a fairly large detachment, fittingly, as Nelson is one of the larger cities in the southern interior.
Though we're not certain of it, we believe the RCMP once occupied the offices of the present city police, which are somewhat smaller than their present location.
To make a Lucky 7 the RCMP needed help from a memorial rose garden, Lakeside Park and BOB, the Big Orange Bridge.
