Inside the station, however, are some state of the art fire fighting vehicles. One that must remain outside and brave the weather is First Responder 3, a Heavy Duty Ram 2500, complete with 5.7 litre Hemi power plant, descendant of the Hemis of yore which dominated drag racing for decades. We had actually seen First Responder 3 around town but this was the only time we had caught it sitting still, so we shot it.
We arrived at Nelson Fire Hall No. 1 to view the museum, which is attached to the south side of the fire hall. The fireman on duty was washing the ladder truck at the time and kindly allowed us to not only browse the museum at our leisure, but also to photograph the new equipment, as well.
