The dam was built in 1960-1964. Its volume is 4,409 million m3.
Original purposely water supply for Vitkovice Steel fell. The dam was built for flood protection and recreation. After building Biocel Paskov in 1983, the dam serves as a direct source of water for it.


Prehrada byla postavena v letech 1960-1964. Objem nadrze je 4,409 mil. m3. Puvodní zámer- zásobování vodou Vítkovické železárny padl, vybudována byla pro ochranu pred povodnemi a rekreaci. Po vybudování Biocelu Paskov roku 1983 slouží jako prímý zdroj vody pro tento podnik.
