The Station Hotel in Port Erin stands directly opposite the southern terminus of the Isle of Man Steam Railway line from Douglas.
The Pub Sign is however to the rear of the Hotel in the carpark
The Pub Sign appears to show Isle of Man Railways locomotive No. 15 Caledonia.
The Hotel was originally an old coaching inn for distributing the luggage from the railway to the many hotels and guest houses in Port Erin.
It was also an internment hosterly for enemy aliens during WWII.
CAMRA's What?ub website describes The Station thus:
"The Station is a great pub popular for serving home-made traditional pub fayre. As the name suggests it is perfectly situated for the steam train as well as only 100 yards from arguably the most stunning beach the island has to offer. The building is particularly handsome and the atmosphere extremely welcoming. It is recommend taking the train down south and enjoying a meal here before sampling the pleasures Port Erin has to offer."
