An hourglass flanked by two grieving winged angels decorates the top of the 18th century gravestone of Joseph and Mercy Parsons.
The inscription reveals Joseph Parson died by accident. The brownstone grave marker is inscribed:

Joseph Parsons
who was killed by
Accident at Southwick
on 16th October 1789
in the 17th Year
of his age
