Early-Baroque house "At the Two Suns" (dum U dvou sluncu), located in the upper part of Neruda street (Nerudova ulice) in Lesser Town of Prague, belongs among the most famous historic houses of this pictoresque street.
The core of the house "At the Two Suns" was build in Renaissance period, in end of the 16th century. Building was reshaped in early Baroque style in 1673-1690, when it took a new volute gables and facade decorated by house sign with two suns in cartouche. The courtyard part wasn’t built until mid-19th century. A prominent XIXth century Czech writer and poet Jan Neruda lived in this house between 1845-1857 (a memorial tablet from 1895), his father had run a tobacco shop there. After father’s death, Mrs. Nerudová with their son moved to the house "At the Three Red Eagles" in the same street.
