24-pounder long cannon on display in Raper's Park in Meaford.
The replica was moulded and cast in 1978 by Georgian Bay Foundry Ltd of Meaford. The company donated it to the Town.
The cannon bears the cipher of King George III.
The original cannons were cast in the UK for use in the ships of the Royal Navy, and in France and Spain for use by their naval fleets. The US Navy used them in the War of 1812 and up until the mid 1840's.
