I passed by this gift shop/museum five years ago when visiting Seattle for Christmas and it was closed. It was also located in the north corner of the pier building, close to the street. Now tucked away farther out on the pier, this shop is full of intrigue as soon as you walk through the doors. Most of the unusual items of interest are located higher up on shelves or are hanging from wires. They include freaky animal forms such as a two-headed calf, a four-legged chicken and a freaky mer-man and mer-baby (mutant mermaids... fake, I know). But the truly freaky stuff is in the back of the shop inside two display cases. They include male and female mummies, shrunken monkey heads, and other animal/human objects. All items on display in the shop contain small placards that highlight their meaning or background. I was mesmerized by all the old trinkets, unusual items on display and other oddball merchandise for sale. This place is well worth the visit and its free of charge.

This shop has been in continuous business since 1899 when it was started by Joseph Edward 'Daddy' Standley, the founder of Ye Olde Curiosity Shop and is still run by his family today.
