No.51 High Street is a grade II listed C17th and C18th two storey house with attic. It is stucco lined and painted and the pantile roof is hipped to the right. The right-hand portion is probably original with a front gable. There are four flush frame sash windows at first floor level, each with glazing bars, the two on the right have thick bars. On the ground floor the entrance is near the centre with a display window on each side.
This building was used as the King William IV public house from 1833 and 1852, and then renamed the Prince of Wales from c1850 to 1882.
Two blue plaques to the right of the entrance door have been placed here to commemorate this use and the pub names by the Wells Local History Group.
