Bench was dedicated in 2007. An obit reads:

Bob SAGE April 12, 1931 ~ May 8, 2012 Bob Sage, a television director and still photographer died on Tuesday at his home in Seattle. His death resulted from complications of a long illness. He was 81. Mr. Sage was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 12, 1931. As a young man, he served in the Army as a field photographer and later moved to Los Angeles where he became a staff director for Film Fair, the largest and most successful commercial production studio of its era. He later founded Sage and Associates, and for more than a decade produced and directed award winning commercials. He specialized in the "slice-of-life" advertising genre that featured believable characters representing the typical American family. He is survived by his brother, Charles Sagebrecht. Jacquelyn Sage, an artist and his wife of many years, predeceased him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Old Dog Haven PMB A-4, 621 SR 9 NE, Lake Stevens, Washington 98258-8525, or Smile Train, 41 Madison Avenue, 28th floor, New York, NY 10010.
