This sculpture depicts Father Time...with wings, a scythe and an hourglass.
The placard accompanying the work informs us that the piece is from around 1750. It once formed the decorative feature of a bracket clock and was flanked by two hourglasses. It had been located at St. Giles' Church in Cripplegate.
The Museum does not charge an admission fee.
Father Time is probably based on the Greek God of time, Chronos.
