"Three storey Grade II-listed inn dating from the early 19th century. The interior retains some nice old features, but sadly no real ale. Note the profusion of old beams, the corner settle, and the iron cooking range. The small beer patio to the rear is largely given over to smokers. Nineteen en-suite bedrooms."

In the past this was a coaching inn, and the sign shows a 19th century scene, a coach and horses pulled up outside the inn and the driver being served with a jug of ale.
