Luxury Renaissance House N° 78 (dum c.p. 78) with revealed Gothic elements, located in western front of Pernstein Square (Pernštýnské námestí), is one of the most beautiful burgher houses of Pardubice' Old Town.
House N° 78 is fine example of the architectural development of Pardubice from late-Gothic to Renaissance period and belongs among key elements of the Pardubice UMR (Urban Monument Reserve / Mestská památková rezervace). Build probably in the beginning of the 16th century in late-Gothic style and reconstructed in Renaissance style adter 1538. House took a Baroque facade in the 18th century, but it was removed during the buiding' reconstruction in the 50th of the 20th century - so the valuable Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements (e.g. stone window frames) were revealed. The house was structurally connected with both neighbouring historic houses in the frame of several rebuildings in end of the 20th and beginning of the 21th century and nowadays houses public Pardubice Regional Library (Krajská knihovna v Pardubicích).
