The Honey Grove Preservation League has an excellent and detailed history of the church, including photos, at the website below. The church has roots back to the 1870s, as Germans settling in the area ultimately met up and formed a congregation, making things official in 1884. They met in an abandoned Methodist church, north of Honey Grove, until they built their first sanctuary in 1886. In 1902, they moved from Honey Grove to a location just east of here, and then completed a new sanctuary that year.
