A memorial to Catalan stage scene painter was created by sculptor Frederic Marès. It consists of an original 1 x 1.68 x 0.65 meter marble sculpture Reclining Female Figure is set on a 1.74 x 1.73 x 0.84 meter base made of Montjuïc stone. The memorial was created in 1930.
The Reclining Female Figure is depicted sitting inclined slightly back and turned to her right against a stone support with her legs horizontal to her body. She wears only a drape across her upper thighs and is looking at a flower she is holding in her left hand. Her left elbow is on the drape on her left thigh and her right hand is on the back stone support.
The base is inscribed:
FRANCESC SOLER I ROVIROSA

In order to avoid an entirely depersonalized monument, Marès included a bronze medallion with a portrait of Francesc Soler i Rovirosa above his name on the pedestal.
Francesc Soler i Rovirosa was born in Barcelona on June 24, 1836. He had a passion for painting and studied drawing at the Llotja School in Barcelona with Marian Carreras. He traveled in France , Belgium and the United Kingdom, and for seven years he lived in Paris where he worked in the workshops of painter-set designer Charles Antoine Cambon and Thierry.
He applied his skills to creating scenery for the Catalonian theater. In 1870, he painted six sets for the premiere of the opera Don Carlos by Verdi at the Gran Teatro del Liceo on the La Rambla in Barcelona. He became the head stage designer for the Lyric Theater in Barcelona in 1870 and was the artistic consultant to the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona of 1888.
