The Catholic church in Broughty Ferry is Our Lady of Good Counsel, a striking red building in Westfield Road, just west of the town centre and only a hundred yards from the shore of the Firth of Tay
The building was designed by Major Thomas Martin Cappon in 1904 with additions to the south side. It is rectangular-plan, gothic detail in red engineering brick with pink sandstone dressings. There is a tower at the north-west corner in three stages with a four stage octagonal stair tower. At the foot of the tower is a pointed arch door entrance, with above, an ashlar niche depicting Madonna and child. There is a carillon in the tower and a stained glass window facing the street at the west end. The southern end features a segmental arch door and a lower rectangular addition is at the eastern end. The interior was remodelled in the late 20th century.
Worships now take place in the southern extension with the original church used as a social area. Sunday Mass takes place at 10.00am.
