"GP28, alias Donald "Don" Allen Sones, MD, 81, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died Friday, July 3, 2009 at his home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born February 26, 1928, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Alice Fisher and Clement Allen Sones, MD. He was raised in Des Moines, IA and attended college at Northwestern University, followed by a medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1956.

He proudly served his country during World War II, 1946-48 as a staff sergeant medic and the Korean Conflict in 1951 with a medical detachment. His medical career began at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN from 1962-1974. In 1975 he moved to Northwest Arkansas and subsequently owned a private practice for Rheumatology in Fayetteville from 1976 to 1986. He retired and moved to town in 1986.

He was a private pilot and loved golf, fishing, travel and listening to classical music."
