On the corner of Garden Avenue and 1st Street West in downtown Revelstoke one will find a griz.

Given that Revelstoke is in bear country, on any given day one may find both griz and black bears almost anywhere in the town. This is one of the few, however, which one can count on finding at a specific location every day. I say "one of the few" because this is not the only bear statue in Revelstoke. Cast of what appears to be concrete, this life sized bear guards the premises from under the large "Revelstoke Lodge" sign on the corner. If the work was signed, we didn't find the signature, unfortunately, so the sculptor will have to remain unnamed and unknown.
