The hexagonal white building by the seafront is The Lookout and is still used today to keep watch.

On The Lookout is a plaque which reads:
'The Lookout
One of only six such grade 2
listed buildings in the country.
Constructed about 1804 during the
Napoleonic wars as a coastal
look-out station. Later to become
an observation post for the
Customs and Excise.'
