The waymarked portable hourglass is on permanent display as part of a "Cabinet of Curiosities" exhibit of treasures in the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation Gallery at the Museum of Fine Arts. The hourglass is on the east wall of Room 217, in the Audrey Jones Beck Building.
Information about the history of this specific hourglass is skimpy, but it appears to have been made in France or Italy in the 17th century. It is worn and dinged up from being carried as a portable timekeeper.
