These Falls are reached by turning off at Piopio and following Mangaotaki Road. Follow the road for the next 21km (35-40min) until you see a small car park with a couple of tables for a picnic (there are no toilets). You will be following the Mangaotaki Stream part of the way with scenic views of limestone rock country. The carpark is signposted at these co-ordinates: S 38° 23.711 E 174° 52.071.
The well maintained track to the Falls leads downhill through dense and lush native bush with several sections of wooden steps so it will not be suitable for wheelchairs. Follow the track to the end, about a 15min walk. The viewing platform gives a wonderful overlook of the 11 metre high waterfall cascading over the mossy banks of the stream below. The return walk takes a bit longer, steps and more steps, its all uphill! But just take it slowly, and enjoy the views of the lush green New Zealand bush all the way back.
