Roadside America

It's shaped like an oval gazebo, and its open roof has a mesh design that replicates a famous photo of MLK and LBJ sitting in the Oval Office, discussing Civil Rights legislation.

The sculpture, by Aaron Hussey, casts a shadow of the two men on the tiny corner plaza as the sun moves across the sky every day. Titled "Crossroads," it was unveiled on MLK Day 2014 but San Marcos otherwise has no connection to MLK or the Civil Rights movement. The artwork's purpose is simply to call attention to the uniquely named intersection.
