Laxey (Glen Roy) Viaduct was built in 1898 by local contractor Mark Cain.

The Viaduct is 240 feet long and there are four spans over the River. There is a fifth span at the Ramsey-end of the Viaduct which bridges the Church Hill/Glen Road. The Viaduct despite its impressive size took only 4 months to build.

The 'Railway' before the Viaduct was constructed terminated on the Douglas side of the valley and the Viaduct was built as part of the extension to Ballure, Ramsey.
