JP0055 - USCGS B33 - 1933 - Nevada - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Benchmark B33 is located about 10 miles NE of Currant, Nevada, at the junction of U.S. Hwy. 6 and NV Hwy 379. The cap is set in a square concrete monument about 36 feet south of highway centerline. The cap was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1933 and was marked B33 1933.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1984 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. 15.4 KM (9.6 MI) NORTHEAST ALONG US HIGHWAY 6 FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH STATE HIGHWAY 379 AT CURRANT, ON TOP OF THE HIGHEST POINT OF A SHORT LOW CUT BANK, 0.5 KM (0.3 MI) SOUTHWEST OF MILEPOST 128, 11.1 METERS (36.5 FT) SOUTH OF THE HIGHWAY CENTERLINE AND 19.2 METERS (63 FT) WEST OF THE EAST END OF THE CUT BANK. THE MARK IS 0.3 METERS N FROM A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS 1.8 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.
