"The lake is located in the south-west of Cologne, about 15 kilometers from the city boundary, in front of the Erftstadt district of Liblar, directly behind it is the Bundesstrasse 265, Luxemburger Straße.
Lake Libl is one of the largest lakes of the Ville Lake District in the southern quarter of the Ville. Like almost all of these lakes, the Liblian Lake is also the resting hole of a former Braunkohletage building, the Liblar mine, filled with water. Here, brown coal was mined from 1900 to 1961. "
