Tacoma was a town that boomed when the railroad came to town. Chosen for its location near Commencement Bay on the Puget Sound, the area made a perfect spot for the Northern Pacific Railroad to connect up to the ships carrying goods to and from Asia. Now the Station is a Federal Courthouse and the crown jewel of downtown Tacoma's restoration movement. In the district is the Thea Foss Waterway Promenade, the Tacoma Museum of Glass, the Chihuly Bridge of Glass, University of Washington Tacoma, and the Washington State History Museum.
