LEEDS CIVIC TRUST

NORTH-EASTERN RAILWAY
VIADUCT

This 1500 yard viaduct,
including the New Station
(now known as City Station)
built over the river and canal,
is one of the great feats of
Victorian civil engineering.
It linked railway termini on
opposite sides of Leeds.
Erected 1866 - 69
Much of the viaduct consists of a series of brick arches, but at this point where it crosses Swinegate it is a girder bridge over the road.
