This shop is located on The Strand in Longton. In the past the premises used to be a public house called The Earl of Clarendon, the pub sign can still be seen hanging above the shop.

Douglas Macmillan Hospice are a local charity and the only adult hospice within North Staffordshire caring for local people with life limiting illnesses.

Douglas Macmillan Hospice offers specialised care for patients over the age of 16 who are facing from a life-limiting illness when a cure is no longer possible.
Their social work team are part of a wider team that give practical and emotional support to patients, their families, carers and friends.

The Douglas Macmillan Hospice was established in 1973 as a 28-bed care facility for people facing incurable cancer, serving primarily the North Staffordshire area.
On 14th February 2013 the Hospice celebrated its 40th anniversary.

The first Dougie Mac Shop was opened in December 1994. It was run completely by volunteers and looked very different to the image they have established today.
There are now 20 Dougie Mac shops spread across North Staffordshire, including specialised shops such as Home 2 Home, Wedding Dreams, Mini Mac and a huge Warehouse based in Burslem.

Money raised in their shops makes a significant contribution every year to their funding.
