Today the approach to Laxey Station travelling from Derby Castle is little changed. Trams on the Manx Electric Railway access the Station across the Glen Roy Viaduct and a road bridge over Church Hill/Glen Road. It is this road bridge that is in the foreground of the photographs.
The Viaduct was built in 1898 by a local contractor Mark Caine. The construction took four months to complete starting in March 1898.
The 240ft four-arched viaduct was built as part of the extension from the 1896 Laxey Terminus to Ballure near Ramsey.
