[DE] "Die Basilika St. Kastor, auch Kastorkirche genannt, ist eine katholische Kirche in der Altstadt von Koblenz. Die Basilika, deren erster Bau in der ersten Hälfte des 9. Jahrhunderts vollendet wurde und deren heutiges Erscheinungsbild im 12. und im 19. Jahrhundert entstand, ist das älteste erhaltene Kirchenbauwerk der Stadt und steht hinter dem Deutschen Eck an der Landspitze zwischen Rhein und Mosel. Die Kirche ist ein prominentes Bauwerk der Romanik am Mittelrhein und wegen ihres umfassend erhaltenen Baubestandes sowie der zum großen Teil überlieferten Ausstattung von großer historischer Bedeutung. Sie prägt mit den anderen beiden romanischen Kirchen, der Liebfrauenkirche und der Florinskirche, die Silhouette der Altstadt. Auf dem Vorplatz der Basilika steht der sogenannte Kastorbrunnen, ein kurioses Zeugnis der Napoleonischen Kriege. Papst Johannes Paul II. erhob am 30. Juli 1991 die Kastorkirche zur Basilica minor. Sie trägt das Patrozinium des heiligen Castor von Karden.

The basilica, whose first building was completed in the first half of the 9th century and whose present appearance dates back to the 12th and 19th centuries , Is the oldest surviving church building in the city and stands behind the Deutsches Eck on the Landspitze between the Rhine and the Moselle.The church is a prominent building of Romanesque architecture on the Middle Rhine and because of its comprehensively preserved construction as well as the largely historic furnishing. On the square in front of the basilica stands the so-called Kastorbrunnen, a curious testimony of the Napoleonic wars. Pope John Paul II raised the Kastorkirche on 30th July 1991. The church was built on the site of the Romanesque church, the church of the Virgin Mary and the Florins church To the Basilica minor, carrying the patrocinium of St. Castor of Karden.
