On top of Pussycat hill overlooking the usually dry salt lake Dumbleyung a plaque was placed to recognise the breaking of the world water speed record achieved by Donald Campbell on 31 December 1964
The plaque is attached to a large granite block in the shape of WA and stood up on its end.
There is a hole drilled through the rock which allows a beam of light to pass through at exactly 3.43pm on the 31st December each year.
The beam of light shines onto another plaque set in the ground nearby which show an small model of the boat in the lake.
