From Find A Grave we learn the tragic story of the Florea Family.

In 1894 John C taught the first school in Missouri City and married Miss Dunlop and lived there for ten years.

He later became the County Judge of Fort Bend County. He and his family were on a vacation at the mouth of the Brazos in 1915 when they all lost their lives in a tropical storrm except a daughter, Minnie who escaped by clinging to a log which carried her entirely across Galveston Bay and landed her on the Island.

It should also be noted that Minnie Florea (the only survivor) lived to be almost 100 years old, and is also buried in the Morton Cemetery.
