An eight-meter-high wooden sculpture at Munich Airport, where she was placed between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Franz Josef Strauss.
Her creator is Lothar Seruset, who was born in Ulm in 1956 and won the competition "Kunst am Bau Flughafen Muenchen".
A man stands on a world globe, firmly on his big feet. An earth system that recognizes how much it is literally dependent on the ground under its feet. And yet this essence has in mind the idea of flying, taking off, of easiness.
The idea of flying - and its execution - lies in human hands. The longing for the ease of flying also seems to have moved Franz Josef Strauss. Lothar Seruset has found a photo of Franz Josef Strauss, in which he holds a plane quite playfully, almost as if it were flying like a bird from his hand.
