People visiting Palermo by ship are greeted by this this 7' tall bronze sculpture of a female figure created in 1952 by Nino Geraci. The woman is standing with her right knee bent slightly forwards. She wearing a floor length sleeveless dress and has her arms outstretched in welcome. She is holding an olive branch between her thumb and index finger of her right hand. The sculpture is set facing a corner of a 12' high square base made of marble blocks. Relief sculptures of people involved in various occupations are carved into the two front faces of the base.
