The Fire Lookout Tower is a tall timber structure approximately 35m (115
feet) tall. It has a broad base narrowing as it gets higher. The framework is a series of crossed timbers on the top of which is a roofed hut with 360 degree views, access is via a series of ladders. Although not used any more there is no public access for safety reasons.
The lookout tower was constructed in the late 1950's and used continuously as a fire lookout until spotter planes took over the surveillance role in 1974. There are few (if any) of the fire towers still operating in W.A.
