NZ0191 - USC&GS 'X 548' BM - Talent, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey BM from 1954 in good condition. It is monumented on top of a concrete culvert on the north side of railroad tracks and easy to spot from the road with the orange carsonite witness post. The NGS coordinates should place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 2.1 MI SE FROM TALENT. 2.1 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD FROM THE CROSSING OF MAIN STREET AT TALENT, 3.5 MILE NORTHWEST OF ASHLAND, 0.1 MILE NORTHWEST OF SEMAPHORE 432.6, AT AN 18-INCH CORRUGATED METAL PIPE CULVERT, IN THE TOP OF THE NORTHWEST END OF THE NORTHEAST CONCRETE HEAD WALL, 35.0 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF OLD U.S. HIGHWAY 99, 9.7 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST RAIL, AND ABOUT 1 FOOT LOWER THAN THE RAIL.

ADD--3.3 KM (2.05 MI) SOUTHEASTERLY ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD FROM THE JUNCTION OF MAIN STREET IN TALENT, ACROSS THE TRACKS AND TALENT AVENUE FROM HOUSE NUMBER 2205 TALENT AVENUE, 10.7 M (35.1 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE AVENUE, AND 3.0 M (9.8 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE NEAR RAIL.
