Located in the south portion of Stearns Cemetery is a zinc headstone, one of two within the cemetery. This particular zinc monument contains two headstones side by side (the first I've seen of this type) of a married couple. The first headstone reads:

FATHER
GEORGE
BRINER,
BORN
JAN. 29, 1823,
DIED
MARCH 23, 1904.

The back of the headstone reads:

DEAR FATHER WITH A REVERENT
HAND
THIS TO THY MEMORY GIVEN,
WHILE ONE BY ONE THY HOUSEHOLD
BAND
GOD REUNITED IN HEAVEN.

The front of the second headstone reads:

MOTHER
MARY
BRINER,
BORN
SEPT. 14, 1833,
DIED
JAN. 2, 1879.

The back of the headstone reads:

DEAR MOTHER, IN EARTH'S THORNY
PATHS,
HOW LONG THY FEET HAVE TROD!
TO FIND AT LAST THIS PEACEFUL
REST,
SAFE IN THE ARMS OF GOD.
