Am 27. Oktober 1896 wurde der k.k. Gendarmerie Postenführer Adolf Robl an dieser Stelle ermordet. Es gab Indizien, die darauf hindeuteten, dass der oder die Mörder Falschmünzer aus Italien waren. Die Täter konnten aber nie ausgeforscht werden. Für die Errichtung eines Denkmals wurden 2415 Kronen und 13 Heller gesammelt. Hergestellt wurde das Denkmal von Bildhauer Karl Schriefert und Steinmetzmeister Karl Robesch. Die Enthüllung fand am 12. Juli 1904 im Beisein zahlreicher Gäste statt.
Auf der Vorderseite des Denkmals ist ein Relief mit dem Gesicht Robls und eine Gedenktafel mit der Inschrift:
In getreuer Pflichterfüllung fiel an dieser Stelle der k.k. Gendarmerie Postenführer Adolf Robl am 27. Oktober 1896 ruchloser Mörderhand zum Opfer.
Eine weitere Gedenktafel auf der Rückseite des Denkmals trägt die Inschrift:
Aus freiwilligen Spenden errichtet unter dem Protektorate Seiner Excellenz des Herrn k k Gendarmerie-Inspektors Johann Edlen von Horrak k.u.k. Feldmarschall Lieutenant

On 27 October 1896 the police officer Adolf Robl was murdered at this point. There were clues suggesting that the murderer(s) were coin counterfeiters from Italy. The perpetrators could never be explored. For the erection of a monument 2415 crowns and 13 heller were collected. The monument was made by sculptor Karl Schriefert and stonemason Karl Robesch. The revelation took place on 12 July 1904 in the presence of numerous guests.
On the front of the monument is a relief with the face of Robl and a memorial plaque with the inscription:
In true fulfillment of the duties, the police officer, Adolf Robl, fell victim to a ruthless murderer's hand on 27 October 1896.
Another memorial plaque on the back of the monument bears the inscription:
