Richly decorated Chapel of St. Anne (Kaple Sv. Anny), built as extension of Capuchin Convent at Chateau Mnichovo Hradište in 1723-1724, belongs among the most valuable monuments of late-Baroque sacral architecture in Central Bohemia region.
The Chapel was built at expenses of countess Maria Magdalena of Wallenstein (Marie Markéta z Valdštejna) for St. Anne church services as thanksgiving after plague epidemy, which miraculously missed Mnichovo Hradište. Chapel, built by Capuchin architect Jan Vyškovský, served
also as funeral site of Wallenstein family - corpses of famous Duke Albrecht von Wallenstein and his wife Lucrezia were moved from Valtice and committed into tomb in 1785. Nowadays beautiful chapel serves as a lapidary with valuable collection of Baroque sculptures. Chapel, administered by Mnichovo Hradište Roman Catholic parish, also serves for ocassional services (Biblical Magi fest, St. Anne fest etc.).
Southern five-axes front facade of the chapel with central avant-corps is segmented by pillasters, tall windows fesooned by floral stucco motifs and by a portal with bow-shaped supraporta. Over entamblature is tall three-segmented gable with window and balcony. Facade is morevover enriched by statues of saints - St. Anne, St. John the Baptist, Our Lady and Capuchine
order saints. The Baroque interior, formed by nave and presbytery with barrel vault, is decorated by vault lunettes and stucco. At the eastern wall of presbytery was later added Empire style open chapel with gable supported by two pairs of Tuscany half-columns.
