The exact date when this lighthouse was first established is not known but it was sometime between December 1818 and February 1819.

The lighthouse tower is 30 metres high (70ft) and a circular design. Today the tower is painted white with two red bands.

The light gives 4 white flashes every 20 secs and has a range of 19 nautical miles.

The Admiralty Reference for the Lighthouse is A4720.

The Northern Lighthouse Board is today responsible for the operation and maintenance of the automated light. The light was automated in 1993. The lighthouse is today a private residence.
