This is a small size church in an older section of Westbank. The church maybe small, however they have a large sign just to left of the entrance. It has dark wood trim with horizontal siding. Large trees grace the left side as you enter. Westbank Town Centre Park is just around the corner on May Street. The community garden is behind the church.
This was an interesting church to research has it carries two umbrellas: Gospel Hall Assemblies and under the larger umbrella the Christian Brethren Assembles. As a note: These assembles are NOT associated with the Assembles of God. Though all are Pentecostal in belief and practice.
"Gospel Hall Assemblies
The Gospel Halls are a group of independent Christian assemblies throughout the world that fellowship with each other through a set of shared Biblical doctrines and practices. Theologically, they are evangelical and dispensational. They are a conservative strand of the Open Brethren movement (Christian Brethren Assemblies) and tend to only collaborate with other assemblies when there is doctrinal agreement.
Christians who meet in Gospel Halls generally hold that a scriptural Christian assembly should avoid the use of a "sectarian" name. They typically describe themselves simply as "Christians" gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus rather than adopting a denominational title, which has been a long standing practice."
Westbank Bible Chapel is part of a network of Christian Brethren Assemblies that are autonomous and governed by leaders of individual churches.000000
The Christian Brethren Assemblies does not have any formal federation, or governing body that oversees the churches that call themselves Christian Brethren Assemblies.
There basic belief is that all are Brethren, true believers in Christ and adhere to a very strict interpretation of the Bible.
All (Brethren) churches are all Christian that fall under the umbrella of Christian Brethren Assemblies, they are more concerned with associations with other Christian Church that follow the same strict interpretation of scripture.
