His grave is marked by a white painted wooden cross to which a brass plaque has been attached with details of his death.

The National Library of Australia Trove Digitised Newspapers (website below) has a record of the death & subsequent inquiry as published in The Muswellbrook Chronicle on 14 February 1941 which is very long so only part reproduced here:

ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED.
LATE ALBERT ARTHUR PITTMAN.

At the inquiry at the Merriwa Court House on Wednesday afternoon of last week, touching the death of Albert Arthur Pittman, the Coroner (Mr. J. R. Telfer, J.P.) found that deceased was accidentally drowned in the Merriwa River on Monday, 3rd February.

THE EVIDENCE.
Sergeant S. Fairlamb, in charge of the police at Merriwa, stated that at about 3.30 p.m. on the 3rd. inst. he received a telephonic communication from Mrs. Roland Byfleld, stating that a boy named Pittman had been drowned in the Merriwa River. Continuing, Sgt. Fairlamb, said: ''Shortly afterwards Claude Byfleld and Wilfred Coppard called at the police station. They spoke to me collectively, saying that they had been swimming in the Merriwa River that afternoon in company with another boy named Albert Arthur Pittman and that Pittman, they thought, had been drowned in deep water in a hole in the Merriwa River, between Roland Byfleid's property and '' Cullingral.''
