[EN] The construction of the church began at the beginning of the 12th century, at the same time as the foundation and development of the city.
The tower was built at the end of the 15th century but the lack of means interrupted the building site for 30 years. Thanks to the generosity of the bishop of Senlis, Artus Fillon, a native of Verneuil, was completed around 1525.
The richness of its carved decoration compares it to the Butter Tower of Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Lantern Tower of the Saint-Ouen Abbey, both in Rouen.
The great organ is the work of the Rouennais factor Jean-Baptiste Lefebvre (1778). It also has a remarkable Entombment of the 16th century with polychrome characters.
In 1826, David d'Angers delivered a cenotaph in memory of Louis de Frotté and the other seven officers who were shot at Verneuil on February 18, 1800, while their ashes were transferred to the crypt in 1814.
