Ce monument est situé face au "Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation" dans la citadelle de Besançon et commémore les personnes déportées dans les camps de concentration et d'extermination, ainsi qu'en mémoire aux résistants fusillés.

Elle a été réalisée en 1950 par Georges Oudot.
