[FR] L'église romane de Saint Paixent est de style roman avec quelques nuances de style ogival, elle est citée dès les XI ème et XII ème siècles.
Son portail polylobé rappelle l'influence limousine. Une tour ronde accolée à l'église contient l'escalier à vis conduisant au clocher.
Celui-ci à l'allure d'une véritable tour romane, carrée, un peu trop massive. A l'intérieur, sur l'autel latéral, se trouve une statue de Vierge à l'enfant, vénérée sous le nom de Notre-Dame de Saint-Paixent.
Une agglomération s’est formée autour et aujourd'hui est un quartier de l'Isle-Jourdain.
[EN] The Romanesque church of Saint Paixent is of Romanesque style with some shades of ogival style, it is cited from the 11th and 12th centuries.
Its multi-lobed portal recalls the limousine influence. A round tower next to the church contains the spiral staircase leading to the bell tower.
This one has the look of a real Roman tower, square, a little too massive. Inside, on the side altar is a statue of the Virgin and Child, venerated under the name of Our Lady of St. Paixent.
An agglomeration has formed around and today is a district of Isle-Jourdain.
