This sewing machine is on display in what was the private bedroom of the owner of the Worth Hotel. It is not original to the hotel, and was not owned by the women who owned the Worth Hotel.
It is on display as an example of a non-Singer pre-1910 home sewing machine. The Free Sewing machine (so-called because it had a 'free head') marketed as such with easy payment plans to pre-1910 housewives. 1910 is the cut-off year for anything to be exhibited at the Dallas Heritage Village. Nothing that is of a newer vintage than 1910 is on display at the museum.
For this reason, even though it is displayed in a former commercial building, we are submitting it to this category.
