The late nineteenth, early twentieth century's saw substantial building take place in Glen Innes. European migration to the district commenced in 1838 & grazing & mining were the main enterprises. The wealth created by these activities is reflected in the many historic buildings in the main thoroughfare.
It is a Colonial style heritage listed court house in basalt with granite dressings and galvanised iron roof. Built in 1873, it replaced the original building that was completed in 1858.
It deals with local court matters such as civil & criminal cases, bail, Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO), Family Law & Appeals.
