Archimede Fontanini was born on 14th April 1880 at Giangugnana, Italy, he came to Australia in 1904 and settled in the Manjimup area, later buying land for farming. He dammed a stream to create a dam which was later to become known as Fontys Pool a popular picnic spot. He died in 1982 at the age of 102
