Dès l'entrée du cimetière, on aperçoit la colonne zodiacale, qui se profile derrière le grand ovale de pelouse. Il s'agit d'une sculpture en béton de Maurice Calka, de 8m de hauteur, réalisée selon la technique du coffrage. Des signes du zodiaque sont représentées, appartenant à quatre civilisations (occidentale, aztèque, cambodgienne, africaine) : on reconnait le taureau, le lion, les poissons, mais aussi le cochon, la chouette, le papillon et le perroquet. Douze symboles astraux dessinent ainsi une spirale autour de l'édifice, mouvement circulaire qui évoque les cycles du temps ; certains sont à l'envers comme si la colonne reflétait le ciel tel un miroir. Cette oeuvre est le monument collectif du cimetière, dédié à la communauté des défunts.

As soon as you enter the cemetery, you can see the zodiacal column, which is visible behind the large oval lawn. It is a concrete sculpture by Maurice Calka, 8m high, made using the formwork technique. Signs of the zodiac are represented, belonging to four civilizations (Western, Aztec, Cambodian, African): one recognizes the bull, the lion, the fish, but also the pig, the owl, the butterfly and the parrot. Twelve astral symbols thus form a spiral around the edifice, a circular movement that evokes the cycles of time; Some are upside down as if the column reflected the sky like a mirror. This work is the collective monument of the cemetery, dedicated to the community of the deceased.
