A large armillary sundial stands near the entrance of the San Bernadino County Courthouse at the corner of White Feather Road and Twenty Nine Palms Highway, Joshua Tree, CA

The 5 foot diameter steel armillary sphere has a 6 foot gnomon rod through the polar axis. The rings are the prime meridian (N_S), lower half prime vertical (E-W), equatorial, horizontal and 2 polar. On the inner surface of equatorial ring are cast Roman numerals hour marks. On the outer surface are gold coloured Zodiac symbols. The sphere is supported by a 13 inch high four-flange base. Dial sits on a 42 inch high cast concrete cylindrical base.
The dial accurately shows true solar time as 12 noon is on the prime meridian. There is no longitude correction or equation of time information at the site.
The inscription on a brass plaque is: STAND STILL, YOU EVER MOVING SPHERES OF HEAVEN, THAT TIME MAY CEASE AND MIDNIGHT NEVER COME. CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE, 1564-1593
